Sea Buckthorn and its berries we think are pretty wonderful. This wild plant is found abundant along Scottish coastline, and those bright orange berries are hard to miss. We feel this wee berry is greatly overlooked as it contains an array of vitamins and minerals as well as bio-active substances.
We were part of a focus group at Queen Margaret University looking at the benefits of Sea Buckthorn berries and examining how we could commercially forage it in Scotland. To date, it has proved difficult to get enough supply from Scotland so we’ve had to source from other countries. However, from Summer 2021 (when the harvesting season starts) we’re aiming to be sourcing our Sea Buckthorn from Scotland.
